Cubed Moves SLOWWWWWWWWWWWWW

I am back at work today. There is hardly anyone here at work with many people taking off days now for the holidays. As I mentioned I worked with a bunch of moves of people to new locations and desks here at work all last week. Today I have taken notice to a strange and slightly disturbing fact.

Cubed works here with me and I last week moved him to a desk that was previously occupied with an older gentleman. This older man used to walk slowly and almost drag his feet as he went up and down the stairs to his desk. Not that he was dreading the work but just the way he always moves. Well today I noticed that cubed is dragging his feet walking around kind of like that older gentleman. Is that desk draining? Is Cubed becoming an old slow moving man? I almost yelled at him this last time “pick it up you old duffer and do something even if it is wrong.” But then I thought it would be funnier to have him read this instead.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and you are looking forward to the New Year. I am curious as to any and all New Year’s Resolutions. Please share what yours are. Ney you should say Keep Running.

Christmas has begun.

Today was Christmas with my parents. It is great to spend a day with my family and enjoy all of them. We had a full house with my parents, both my sisters and their families and my Grandma (Dad’s Mom) were there today. We took turns opening presents and the kids of course were going nuts having to wait their turn. Finally we just said go and they opened at their own pace.

My parents got me a couple items off my want list. One was an Extension ladder so I can get on my roof easier. The other is a repeat of a present I received last year, a year of paid garbage pickup. Yep you read that right. My parents paid my trash service for a year last year and they did it again this year. It is nice knowing as I put the trash out each week it is all paid for and that is one less bill I see each month.

The rest of us, sisters and kids all draw names. My brother in law had me this year. I have worn glasses for years. I recently went to contacts now I am able to wear real sunglasses. He bought me a pair of Maui Jim VERY NICE sun glasses. I can’t wait to try them out tomorrow.

We will celebrate Christmas day with my wife’s family. It will be much quieter day.

Cubed put out a great post for our Troops. Good job to him. I believe we have the best troops in the world out there keeping us safe. I can’t even imagine what it is like for some of them out there working to protect us like they do. I know I speak for myself here that I like my life here and it would not be possible if it wasn’t for them. So I would like to write my post to wish them all a SAFE and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Running Goals

I will also voice mine. I ran 1600 miles last year and only 1200 this year. If I continue to decrease my miles by 400 a year I should be able to retire in 2010 as the fat nerd that used to run. :) But for now here are the few goals I have.

1) (not to copy Cat) but to Break 20.30 or better in a 5K
2) Set maybe that PR at the Cherry Creek Sneak
3) To run the Bolder Boulder in 58:30 which is one of the slowest invite groups to the Colder Boulder in December.
4) To run the Colder Boulder and place in the top 3 for that invite heat.
5) To get to run the WWR again with awesome people and beat our time again.
6) Run the HTH faster this year then last year.
7) Maybe get a PR in another half marathon.
8) And the most important is to get to CONTINUE to run with some of the best group of runners, supporters and friends.

Angelic Buggy

This whole post is about how much of an angel I am.

Saturday night went to dinner with some great friends. These are the same friends that even Cubed knows from his church. We had drinks, then a great dinner with meat, and followed it up with more drinks and games at their house. At the end of the night finally got to bed around 2 am.

Got up and was at 8am service for church. It was my turn to play angel. That is what my daughter calls it when I am a Communion Assistant. In actuality it is the reality, I am an angel all the time. I got home and then went and helped a friend with her printer and gave her a monitor I had. Again a free bit of help and gift, and I am still an angel.

Around noon on Sunday then I went and met up with a group of people running. They were running with a gal that is celebrating her birthday today with a run. She is 30 today and is running 30 miles to celebrate. I joined the fun at mile 20 and finished the run with her. I told her stories, had her laughing, gave he small goals to run to the next corner and we will walk again etc, etc. At the end she was very pleased I ran with her and gave her the motivation. She seemed very happy I showed up and ran with her. She thanked me all along the way and I brought with me water, aspirin, and energy packets. Again I was an angel in disguise helping her reach her goal which she did her 30 miles.

I am about to head out to Basketball now. So I ran 11 miles and will go get in 2 hours of basketball. That should do me in and this Angelic Buggy is going to come home, shower, and die for the night. We will see if I live to see tomorrows work day.

Buggy's Running Advice

My top 10 pieces of advice to a new runner. Here it is:
1) Keep Running
2) Run different speed and distances. Faster short ones and longer slow ones. Mix it up each week.
3) Keep asking for advice on running
4) Keep Running
5) Find a running group. Running with others is encouraging and motivating
6) Understand there will be days life and running sucks. Just do it anyway and get through the run even if you cut if short. That is fine just do it and it will make the next one better again.
7) Keep Running
8) Keep asking for advice on running
9) Read about running
10) And last but the best - Keep Running

Rough Expensive Day

Yesterday seemed to be a bad day for Buggy. For work I was to go to a possible new client site to do some set up of computers for a demonstration to happen the rest of this week. Three of us from work went to do this setup.

Well it has been snowing for a couple days and thus everything is slippery and cold. This was the start of a bad day. We took my truck to make this day trip since it is a 4x4 and a bit safer to travel in. It took us 2.5 hours to make what would normally be around an hour drive because of the snow and traffic. On the way down the warm air from the defroster on the cold windshield broke a pit that was there. I now have a crack all along the whole length of the windshield.

We did the work which took a bit longer than we expected. We headed for back for home. The ride home was a bit better as the roads were clear and we beat the traffic by going a different way. I was only a few miles from the office when and un-marked cop pulled out light shining and pulled me over. Yep, I topped of the day with a speeding ticket. In the end the day was over with it costing me probably near $300 with new windshield and the ticket.

The bright side of the day was there was a bottle of pre mixed Mojito in a bottle on my desk from my Secret Santa. So I at least got to go home and drink away the pain of the day since it was too cold and slick to go running for the night.

Ney's Can you stalk a Stalker?

This question recently came up. Can you stalk a Stalker?

First my person thoughts on if this is possible. If you don’t know you are being stalked or don’t know the person that is stalking you then I think it would be hard to stalk them back. Thus in this case the answer is no. BUT I believe you could if you knew who your stalker was. Say you know that someone is following you around and you know who that individual is then yes you could in a sense turn the game and start following that person around.

There are a couple problems that arise here. First if you’re both stalking each other then wouldn’t it be easier to just go be with the person. That way you can both know what each other is doing while not having to hide. OR think of it as hiding in plain sight which is so much easier and safer. Second what if you’re stalking at the same time? Is that like your both hiding behind bushes and sitting in parked cars staring at each other? This to me is a different game then that is called Hide and Seek. Thus it doesn’t work to well either. Third if you are taking turns stalking you might find yourself just going in circles. Thus you lead this person to some place, they lose interest and head off in another direction and you follow and it switches back and forth. Are either of you really getting anywhere?

I also did a quick search on the internet for this and found the following sites. http://mashable.com/2006/10/06/xanga-helps-you-stalk-your-own-stalkers/ This tells me that now you can track using their new tools. The quote from the first paragraph states “This makes Xanga one of the few social sites where you can stalk your own stalkers.” So apparently on their site you can now do this and not know who the stalker is.

This next site http://www.crisiscounseling.com/Articles/Stalking.htm states that you should normally know who the stalker is. It is usually someone you know and or loved. It also seems evenly distributed men and women.

So in conclusion for Ney’s question can you stalk a stalker? I think the answer is yes as proven above. I also go back to my final part. So Ney look for us guys running through your yard in the evening and night and for the women to be running through your yard in the day time. I plan to be hanging at you’re your house during the day to watch by the way.

There Gator how is that for a post?

Christmas Party

The party was okay. I wanted to get there around 5:30 but due to other issues didn’t get there until a little after 6. Dinner started at 6 so with that I didn’t get much time to settle in and had to just find a place to sit. With all that and then not being a huge party person it just never really got going. Then just when I was relaxed a bit to actually get to enjoy visiting it was over. It ended at 10pm. I did get extra tickets but not from Cubed.

We also had a staff meeting at work on Friday. For the beginning of the meeting we have a thing called the ice breaker. It is an activity to get people involved and ready to listen to all the data. This time the gal doing the ice breaker asked questions about Christmas and you either received or lost points based on your answers. When it was all done I and one other guy both had 65 points. We were in a tie. The tie breaker was to spell Hanukah. Well neither of us could spell it. As we were thinking about it I remembered a blog I read from Ridiculous Chick about Chanukah and Hanukah. It was at that point I rolled out the spelling Chanukah and the gal goes YES that is right. WOOHOO I won in the end all due to Ridiculous Chick’s blog.

Thus my point is reading blogs do a few things. They make friends of people that would never have met. They give us all insights to think about. They help us win an ice breaker with spelling. Thanks Ridiculous Chick!

Christmas Party

We have snow today. I knew it was a good thing to get out and get 6 miles in last night. I ran 4 days straight this week and put in 26 miles already. I am at my average and if I can get a small 4 miler this weekend in I will be headed back to where I like. It makes it hard though with snow season upon us but that just adds to the challenge.

A lot has been going on at my house. I think I told you a while ago we purchased a new TV, as in a large 52 inch one. Well here is what that caused us to do in the house. I had in 1986 designed an entertainment center that my father then built for me for that Christmas. It fit a 27 inch TV, VCR full Stereo and had drawers and doors on the bottom. That has been one of the best pieces of furniture in my home for 21 years. Well the new TV now won’t fit.

I talked to my dad and we did some measuring and guess what. All we had to do was remove 2 shelves and 1 divider from the TV compartment to the Stereo compartment and the new TV would fit that cabinet with like 2 inches to spare on each side and the top. It was like we made that cabinet to fit this. I took the cabinet to my dad’s last weekend and he modified it and I reinstalled in the other night with the new TV in our family room. It looks awesome. There was a plaque on it that read “Built by Dad for Christmas 1986.” They added a small plaque to the bottom that now reads “Modified Christmas 2007.”

Speaking of Christmas we now have our Tree in our house and the lights on it. The ornaments will go on this weekend I am sure. As for tonight I have my company Christmas Party. We all get one drink ticket per person for the party. I might need an extra so I am asking you all out there that read this to comment and convince Cubed (Dumber, Smarter) that he should give me his ticket. I know you can all come up with some great convincing ways for this to happen.
